Retin-A and Similar Products

There are many new retinoid products now available which are similar to Retin-A. New products for aging, sensitive skin are now available such as Avita and Renova. New, stronger and more effective medications such as Differin, Retin-A Microgel and Tazorac are also available for acne. Understanding how these products work continues to emerge, but there are also some misconceptions about how these products should be used.

These products are not photosensitizers; however, you may be more sun-sensitive when using them. The response to sunlight tends to become normal over time--usually three to four months. But, of course, you should be using sunscreens daily.

Retinoids do not thin the skin. They do thin the stratum corneum (superficial layer of dead skin), but thicken the collagen, which helps prevent wrinkling. This not only dimishes wrinkles, but also improves elasticity.

If you would like to enjoy the beauty-enhancing effects of these products, please contact us, or call us and we'll be happy to arrange a confidential consultation.

The use of Retin-A and
similar products will lead to
younger, fresher looking skin.
