The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology recently contained a report of 17 children under the age of fifteen with malignant melanoma. It is important to check the skin of your children!

Examine yourself and your children once a month and remember change is the biggest cause for concern.

A
Asymmetrical moles are associated with melanoma.

B
Borders which are irregular, notched or not distinct are associated with melanoma.

C
Color-any mole which has more than one shade of brown, black or red should be checked for melanoma.

D
Diameter-moles greater than 6mm (1/4 inch) have a greater risk of melanoma.

If you find a suspicious mole, please contact us to make an appointment.

It is important to examine
yourself and your family
once a month.
